In the midst of a pandemic we were not sure if we would be able to serve as we wanted to, but by modifying and adjusting to restrictions and guidelines, we were able to make 100 plates to be distributed for our first ever Valentine’s Sweetheart Breakfast. We served 75 people a nice warm breakfast “take out style”. In addition to the meal we were able to provide some snack bags. We served turkey sausage, eggs, hasbrowns, grits, muffins, fruit cups, juice, water. We also had special Valentine cupcakes provided by our community partner Bull City Confectionaries.
We were able to serve in our community for our 2nd annual Feed the Homeless/Hungry Breakfast at Urban Ministries of Durham. We provided and cooked a warm hearty breakfast for 100 people in the Durham Community. We were able to distribute the meals outside “takeout style” for the people in need and able to play some holiday music outside for the enjoyment of the people we served.
We were able to provide and cook a “cookout style” meal for 121 people, with a goal of 130 people that is a pretty good outcome. The warm meal was prepared and served at Urban Ministries of Durham, NC on August 22, 2020. Our volunteer squad was amazing! We were able to place the plates outside for the people that we were serving in takeout boxes so that all remained safe.
