Wallace L. Umstead Legacy Cookout Serving our Seniors With Sunshine and Smiles.

On September 11, 2026, the Wallace L. Umstead (WLU) Legacy Cookout returned to Roxboro, NC, just as planned! While this recap may be arriving a little late, the smiles, sunshine, and spirit of service made the day one to remember.

Hosted by Misstakenid Gives Back Foundation, the annual cookout honors the legacy of Wallace L. Umstead by bringing people together to celebrate and serve our seniors. This year, we were grateful for the opportunity to share sunshine, fellowship, and a few smiles with the seniors who make our community special.

Events like this remind us that meaningful impact does not always require grand gestures. Sometimes, it starts with showing up, sharing a meal, and making someone feel seen and appreciated.

A special thank you to AuthoraCare Collective and Roxboro Savings Bank for partnering with us to make this special event possible. Your support helps us continue creating meaningful experiences and strengthening the communities we serve. (We even got a special visit from the Mayor of Roxboro.)

We are proud to carry the WLU legacy forward through service, connection, and community.

Save the date! We cannot wait to return to Roxboro on September 10, 2027, for another year of honoring a legacy and serving our seniors with a smile.

Until then, we will keep showing up, serving with purpose, and making a difference one project at a time.
