The Importance of Giving Tuesday for Your Community

The Power of Giving: Why Giving Tuesday Matters

As we approach the holiday season, we often reflect on the blessings in our lives—family, warmth, and the gift of community. But for many, the holidays are a reminder of what’s missing: a safe place to call home, a hot meal, or even basic necessities. That’s why Giving Tuesday is so important.

What is Giving Tuesday?

You’ve probably heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday—days focused on shopping and deals. But Giving Tuesday, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, is a global movement to encourage generosity. It’s a day where people all over the world unite to support causes that matter to them. Giving Tuesday reminds us that the season isn’t just about what we receive, but how we can give back.

Why Giving Matters to Misstakenid Gives Back Foundation

At the Misstakenid Gives Back Foundation, our mission is to serve those who are often overlooked—our unhoused neighbors, seniors, and veterans. Through our community service projects, like our annual hunger relief initiative and care package distributions, we’re committed to ensuring no one feels forgotten, especially during the holidays.

This work is more than just giving meals or handing out supplies. It’s about restoring dignity, providing hope, and showing compassion. Every hot meal we serve, every sandwich we make, every toiletry bag we give, and every connection we build is a step toward uplifting our community.

How You Can Make a Difference

Giving Tuesday is the perfect opportunity to help us continue this work. Your donation, no matter the size, directly impacts those in need:

$10 can provide a warm meal for someone who hasn’t had one in days.

$25 can supply a care package filled with essentials like toiletries and food for a senior or veteran.

$50 can help fund our hunger relief projects, ensuring that hundreds of people receive meals this winter and beyond.

When you give to the Misstakenid Gives Back Foundation, you’re not just donating—you’re joining a movement to create positive change in our community. Together, we can make a difference this Giving Tuesday.

Join Us in Giving Back

This Giving Tuesday, I’m asking for your help. Whether you can give a little or a lot, every contribution brings us one step closer to our goal of serving those who need it most. Let’s come together to give back, uplift our neighbors, and make this holiday season a little brighter for everyone.

Together, we can make a lasting impact.

Thank you for your generosity and support.

Misstakenid Foundation Honors Legacy with Special Event for Seniors & Veterans in Roxboro, NC

The Misstakenid Gives Back Foundation recently hosted its very first event for the Misstakenid Heroes & Elder Alliance at Canterbury House in Roxboro, NC. In honor of our founder’s late father, Wallace L. Umstead, we brought the community together for a memorable cookout, filled with food, music, and great company.

With a DJ setting the tone for a fun afternoon, seniors and veterans at The Canterbury House enjoyed a day of celebration, laughter, and connection. This event was all about creating new memories while honoring the legacy of those who came before us. We are grateful to everyone who attended and helped make this day special.

We look forward to continuing to serve our Senior & Veteran community through more heartwarming events like this one!

Our First International Project Collaboration-Cancun, Mexico Feb 2022

We were able to setup our first international “pop up” project in collaboration with Huellas de Pan in Cancun, Mexico. They are an organization that fights hunger and combats food insecurities by providing a place that children can come to and eat a meal and participate in various activities.

This staff from this organization was so welcoming and received us very well. With the help of google translator we were able to communicate in Spanish and work together for the day.

Our organization was able to provide supplies for the February birthday celebration and help with some painting for the Valentines Celebration decorations. We were excited about this collaboration and will continue to work with this great organization for years to come. (fingers crossed)

With proper funding we can make this a regular event.
