At the Misstakenid Gives Back Foundation we proudly honor and uplift our seniors and veterans through compassionate support, advocacy, and community centered engagement. The Misstakenid Heroes and Elder Alliance focuses on making sure these pillars of our community feel seen, valued, and celebrated.
This initiative represents our FOURTH main organizational goal, inspired by and in loving memory of our Founder’s late father Wallace Umstead, a proud senior and U.S. Army Veteran, who passed away on June 9, 2024. It was also deeply influenced by our Founder’s journey as a caregiver and patient advocate for her father.
That personal experience sparked a movement, inspiring may others to ask for guidance, tips, and workshops on how to advocate for aging parents, veterans, and loved ones in need of care.
Each year we host our signature event, The Wallace Umstead Legacy Cookout, in Roxboro, NC, bringing joy, resources, and recognition to local elders and veterans in honor of a man who embodied service and love for community.
We are always looking to build meaningful collaborations, welcome sponsors, and engage passionate volunteers to help us continue the impactful work we’re doing in the community. Whether you are an organization, individual, or business, there is a place for you in this mission.
